Shige Yamada
Shige Yamada was born on May 25, 1933, in Wailuku/Maui, Hawaii, United States. Shige Yamada, an American artist and sculptor, holds a teaching certification in Hawaii and is recognized as a Designated Living Treasure of Hawaii by the Honpa Hongwangi Mission of Hawaii. He served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958. He earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Hawaii in 1955, followed by a Bachelor of Education in 1956. Later, in 1966, he obtained a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Hawaii. He also worked as an art lecturer at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu from 1964 to 1968 and as a professor at the College of Education from 1968 to 1988. In addition, he held the position of a professor of art at California State University, San Bernardino, from 1971 to 1972. He uses Photoshop and various other programs to create his computer art. His art is highly abstract. His art is mainly composed of various forms and patterns. The piece I chose to write about this week is called "Colorfest." This piece is vibrant with primary colors: red, blue, and yellow.
