Week 10 Research Assignment
I chose to research Janet Parke this week. She was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She trained and danced at the Fort Wayne Ballet Academy, where she performed as a soloist and later taught. In 1996, Janet Parke developed an early interest in fractals. Although restricted by a very slow computer, she was initially fascinated by their colors and shapes and spent most of her time examining other individual's online fractal galleries. Janet was among the first to use and master the complex fractal program Ultra Fractal. On top of that, she provided the online community with a series of tutorials on the use of the program. Her skillfully crafted fractals are built of dramatic forms accentuated by a powerful, subtle color palette of warm, rich colors, all while maintaining artistic integrity. All of the fractals on display were created using Ultra Fractal. She first produced art only for her enjoyment. Her perspective turned from an enthusiastic dabbler to a serious artist when she received invitations to exhibit and sell her work in galleries and art festivals. I chose this art of her, and it is called Sudionis. This piece of art is dark, and you can see many spirals. This piece brought out a sense of confusion in me.
Here are a couple of website when her art is exposed.
