Week 10 Research Assignment Kyle Dann

Eric Kuns went to school at UC Irvine where he was able to receive a Masters in Fine Arts and a Bachelors in Studio Art from UCLA. Eric says that his current work is created from PhotoShop, a drawing tablet, and his own drawings, scans, and photos. He is able to use his computer to achieve more traditional methods such as drawing, painting, sculpture, and photography. He is able to explore more opportunities by using the technology through his computer. For him, his goal is to create beautiful and engaging imagery that tells a story. Eric wants his audience to be able to relate and connect to his work. His intentions are for people to be able to look at his art rather than just read about it. He wants people to come up with stories when they see his work. Out of the several images that he has, the image above stood out to me. At first glance, I can see a hand that is wrapped around a gecko or some sort of lizard. The entire image looks like waves and from looking at the colors, it looks like there is a fire in the water. Below the gecko, I can see a head that almost looks dead. I believe that this was Eric's goal when he started creating art. He wanted people to find their own ideas in his work and come up with ideas that may be different than others. There is a lot going on in his work but there is always something that will pop into your head when you take a look.
