Paul Piorkowski - Week 10 Research Assignment
The artist I chose to share this week is Maisie Kane. She began making art as a hobby in 2019, but that hobby became a full-time career. Growing up in Vermont and Costa Rica, nature played an important role in her life, and that reflects in her artwork. Her primary software is Photoshop.
The piece I decided to share this week is untitled, but depicts the artist (right) and her friend (left) standing next to a small cascade or waterfall, while large mushrooms grow from the hillside behind them. The piece evokes the feeling of being out in nature, but the oversized mushrooms exaggerate that feeling, especially since, personally, I find mushrooms to be some of the most interesting things to find in nature.
