Week 7 Research Assignment- Kyle Dann

 Image Preview Zoom

Nina Koelman is from Baden-Baden, Germany. After school, she studied Business Administration for Traffic and Tourism and worked in the tourism industry for over 20 years. Nina was able to work from home, as well as travel for work. She taught herself her artistic skills during the 1980s, but she had several years of interruptions, she says. Nina liked to create abstract pictures with lots of different colors, forms, and designs. She mostly painted with a felt pen, however, in 2009, she discovered how to create art using her computer. Since 2012, she has had several exhibits in Baden-Baden. In 2013 she had an exhibit in the State Museum "Preodolenie" in Moscow. She was also nominated for the Palm Art Award in 2012 and 2013.  Her art is very simple. Some of her work has lots of colors but for example, the picture above only uses a few dull colors. The use of shapes and symmetry in the painting draws the audience in. The shadows of the shapes give a unique display of how the shapes are perceived. Some of her work are more detailed than others but most of them have some sort of connection throughout the piece. Either the shapes or the colors are connected in her work.
