Week Three Research Assignment Kyle Dann

For the third week, I have decided to write about Michael Sussna. The art that he creates is fractal images, that he says are "photoreal abstract snapshots of geometric yet organic scenery. Michael was born in New Jersey in 1950 and has a BA in Philosophy. He studied at Sonoma State University. He received an MS in Computer Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He even got his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Cognitive Science from the University of California, San Diego. He started developing software in 1973 and started creating fractal art in 1985. His images have been all over the internet for many years now. Michael says that fractal imagery is relatively young but already a rich field. He believes that traditional artists have embraced the use of computer graphics to enhance representational depiction. He claims that it is very different from traditional art because it demands a well-developed aesthetic sense. Art masters the tools of perfecting form, color, texture, and composition. His art is black and white with lots of different shapes. The images usually follow some sort of pattern. Each image will stick to a couple different shapes in some sort of symmetric pattern. None of the images have any color. Different shades of black but that is it.
