Week 15 Research

For my final research assignment, I researched Peter Casolino. Peter Casolino was a digital artist and photojournalist. He studied photography and painting at Southern Connecticut State University. He worked as a photojournalist for the New Haven Register. All of his art comes from his photo work which he then manipulates and creates new art with. It is uniquely composite, subtle, and surreal. I picked his work 'Untitled'. It shows a mirrored face of a man at the bottom of the picture, with a winter forest above him, and a lake around him. This art caught my eye right away, and not just because it was staring at me. I identified the mirror technique he used for all aspects in this piece, the man's face, the forest, and the lake. I really like that he decided not to add any color to this picture, it adds more of an ominous feeling to the picture. It seems that the man in the picture is in control of the forest above him and the water around him, which combined with the black and white that I aforementioned makes for a spectacular piece of digital art.
