Week 14 Research

Ruben Lamagni

Ruben Lamagni, a skilled illustrator associated with the renowned Argentine newspaper El Litoral, proudly presents his artistic prowess through a dual exhibition format. It is made of full-size images and their seamless integration into the content of newspaper articles. Lamagni's creative endeavors serve as a compelling illustration of the triumphant foray of digital art into the traditionally fortified realms of journalism, where conventional artistic techniques had long held sway. Employing a sophisticated toolkit that includes Painter for the finesse of drawing and painting, Photoshop for the nuanced application of layers and filters, and Infini-D for the occasional incorporation of three-dimensional elements, Lamagni's method is a synthesis of cutting-edge digital technologies. Diving into his creative philosophy, Lamagni said: "I work from the text of the article. But I do not translate this literally to the image because they are not the same languages. The product of a literal translation from a text to an image is always poor. The matter is to create an image that invites the reader to read the text." This week, I chose this piece of art. I like it because there are lots of different objects in this image. Those objects usually would not go together, but Ruben made them complement each other well.

I was not able to find a website for this artist
