Week 13 Research Assignment
For this week’s research assignment I chose the artist Rod Seeley. Seeley was born in Los Angeles, and now lives in Southern California. He is a self taught digital artist who loves to combine unique shapes and colors to create the fractal pieces that he produces. He studied some art while in college, but only started creating digital art pieces in 2010. He uses a customized digital paint technique that looks like oil paint to create his pieces which I find fascinating. It’s amazing tome how one can make digital art look so real as if they did it with real oils and paints! Seeley has his artwork is made to be done on high gloss metal in a metal shadow frame which adds additional dimension to his pieces. His work has been exhibited internationally, and he has won several awards as well. I thought these fractal designs were so interesting because they are so extremely bright and high in exposure while having a certain depth to the pieces as well. I also like that some have a little bit of grain texture added in, I love the fractal pieces that have bits of texture. I feel the texture really adds to the fractal and depths of the colors all together. I have linked his website below, His fractal designs are definitely worth taking a look at!
