Week 12 Research Assignment (Tobias M)

Website: Tad Richards

Richards Quote: "It's men like you that make it difficult for people to understand one another."

For week 12, I chose Tad Richards as my artist. Tad Richards was born on March 31, 1940, and is an American writer and visual artist. He was born in Washington, D.C., where his mother married the sculptor Harvey Fite. Richards attended Bard College where Fite was on the faculty. He then attended Iowa, earning his Master of Fine Arts from the Iowa Writers' Workshop.

The paintings he creates are drawn in Microsoft Paint, but it is not normally considered a sophisticated paint-and-draw program. But, Richards uses this program to create warm and generous art. I chose this piece of art by Richards because it looks like he spent a lot of time on it. In my opinion, if you look closely at the art, it looks like there are a bunch of dots representing the scenery. 2 people in the water, with a woodsy background. But it looks like a lot of dots. And if Richards did use this technique, then I bet it did take a lot of time until it was complete.
