Paul Piorkowski - Week 14 Research Assignment

The artist I chose to share this week is Piotr Dura. Born in Kraków, Poland, Dura has been making artwork since 2014 (at least as far back as I could find), and has worked with many different entities, such as Bushiroad, Netease Games, Rhino Games Inc., MugenUp, Crush Visual, Paizo Publishing, Iron Tower Studio, and most importantly, Wizards of the Coast. He mainly uses Photoshop for his artwork.

The artwork I chose to share is for the card game Magic: the Gathering, and is titled Rimewood Falls, belonging to the card of the same name. It depicts a frozen waterfall, surrounded by snowy pine trees on all sides. The closeness of the trees in relation to the waterfall seems to accurately portrays the comfortable solitude of forests in winter, especially those in the far north.

Another fun bit of information; I actually own a holographic artist proof of this card, only 30 were made and I bought it directly from the artist.
