Week 9 Research Assignment

 

The artist I picked is Harlow Ballard. Although he is now deceased, his artwork continues to live on and be shared across the internet. Most of his art is inspired by the Primitivism movement. He got into digital art after retiring and completely self-taught himself everything he knew. He first started with Microsoft Paint and then taught himself to use other programs, such as Corel Painter. His artwork is mostly flat and involves buildings and storefront signs. The website used a quote to describe him that I really liked. "The artist was always himself without apology or defensiveness."

I really enjoy Ballard's artwork, and I find the houses and colors very intriguing and eye-catching.
