Week 8 Research Assignment - Ian Garcia
For this week's research assignment, I decided to write about Björn Dämpfling. Bjorn was born in 1949 and now currently lives in Berlin, Germany. Björn's style of art is known as unique and "fertile." His style is now easily identifiable; his art is usually filled with "improbable biological specimens," which include fish, fauna, insects, or birds. Björn has a doctorate in economics, but his hobby and passion have been art for most of his life. Although, now he is mainly interested in art. Björn utilizes different painting programs like Fractal Painter and Freehand. He often uses a Wacom tablet, though sometimes he uses scanned paper sketches. Björn wishes to continue creating art for as long as he can surprise himself; his definition of surprising himself is by neither copying others nor himself. He also wishes his art to be "identifiable 'Dämpfling' yes." Though notably, Björn believes that the most important thing of value within the creation of art is the freedom of creating. The link below is the link to Björn's own website.
