Week 5 Research Assignment

 The artist I am researching this week is Thomas Demuth. He is a digital artist from Germany. He was born in Hamburg in 1965. He uses 3D rendering software to create photo-abstract images. He bases his work on polygon mesh structures. He calls his style “Polygonismus”. His work is highly complex because it includes many different shapes, but they all combine to create beautiful art pieces. Thomas draws influence from history, religion, and anthropology. The piece I chose this week is called The Triumph of Death. When I first glanced at this work, I saw people fighting in front of unknown structures. After looking at his piece for some time, I realized that every detail in this piece is made with different geometrical shapes. We see some things or shapes you would think do not belong. For example, we can see an elephant to the left of the picture. I did not expect to see this elephant, but it makes the art much more powerful.
