J.R O'Brien is a artist from Rochester New York he was born in 1954 he has been painting in water color for fifty years. since moving to Vermont in 1997 he focused his work on landscape and  architectural studies.  Vermont was a good place to make art for him because it has all four season climate. i enjoyed his art pieces because i feel like he really shows beauty in the ordinary. this piece was especially interesting to me because it seems like a very spiritual type of piece of artwork a hand coming from the water with a long sword connecting to the sky. i feel like this piece of work has a deeper meaning. i also wonder why he chose to make the sword the color it is and how he made the clouds and sun the way he did . i also like how you can tell the background is the ocean and its currents i enjoyed how he textures the ocean.
