Week 2 Research
This week I have picked Julliette Gribnau. She studied art in Arnhem, Netherlands. Although she never worked as a professional artist, she discovered the power of digital art after her children introduced her to computers before leaving home. Since then, she's done wonderful work, making fractals her specialty. She uses mainly Xenodream and Ultrafractal, as seen below.
I have selected this piece, titled "Sierpocnstruction". The piece shows some kind of building or structure, with four identical tower structures on each side of the mainframe. The towers, which themselves have very specific yet complex patterns and color schemes, are exactly identical to the one diagonal to it. From there you can see that all four sides match, same patterns, colors, and towers. I specifically picked this piece because it solidifies her work with fractals. The more time spent looking at it, the more patterns and similarities appear. I also love the shadow she included on the right side, and that the structure goes out of the smaller frame of the picture, the brown colored one. Those two aspects create a third dimensional look which I found to be interesting and awesome to look at. This piece reminds me of something I would look at while watching a movie like Guardians of the Galaxy, that has digital art like these to show complex and futuristic planets.
