Week 1 Assignment

 The artist I chose is Helga Schmitt. She was born in 1936 in Augsburg, Germany and in 1998, taught herself how to use computer programs to create art. I find this very interesting as people from later generations often have a hard time with technology, much less are able to teach themselves how to use it. She bases most of her work off of photographs she takes and then using computer programs to remake and alter the pictures into how she wants. Her work often appears realistic, yet has obvious signs of computer art alterations. I specifically liked the picture with the rock house, which is called Rocky Town. The rocks look so realistic and the pictures in the windows are really interesting. Overall, her work combines realistic and technological aspects and are very fun to look at. I could not find any information on what programs she uses, she just says that she taught herself how to make the images.
