Paul Piorkowski - Week 4 Research Assignment

The artist I chose to share this week isn't an artist I found on the MOCA site, but rather an artist I was first exposed to almost three years ago: RishXXV.

RishXXV, who also uses the name Beast, is a very private person. As an artist, not much is known about him; we don't know his real name, but through looking at his replies to comments on his Instagram posts, we can figure out that he is Indonesian. It seems he first started sharing his art in late 2014, first showing off his physical pen-on-paper artworks, then showing off his digital artworks starting in early 2017. His software of choice for his digital art is Adobe Illustrator.

This week I decided to share two pieces of his art:

This first one he made for the German thrash metal band Kreator as merch art, and it was put on a poster, t-shirt, hoodie, and vinyl slipmat. This piece was titled Bloody Demon:

This second piece, and my favorite piece of art RishXXV has made, was done for the trading card game Magic: the Gathering, as a part of a special release of their Secret Lair product line called Keep Partying Hard, Shred Harder Than You Previously Thought Possible, which reprinted four cards and gave them the design layout of metal concert posters. This piece, representing a poster for a deathcore concert, is titled Godo, Bandit Warlord:

RishXXV doesn't have a website, but his Instagram account can be found with the tag @rishxxv
