Week 11 Research - Reagan Franzoni
The artist I chose for week 11 from the Doodle Addicts website is Kurtis Edwards. He is a Digital Artist from Michigan and he often works with 2D digital illustrations and painting and also edits videos using Adobe effects and Blender 3D designs. Kurtis Edwards attended school for a degree in diplomacy and human rights, so he often incorporates themes of racism and poverty into his work to show how he advocates for social democracy. The software that Kurtis uses to create his 2D designs are Escape Motions Rebelle 6 and Adobe Photoshop. Some of his digital art pieces include layout designs and web series based on economic and political issues.
The image that I chose from Kurtis Edwards portfolio is called “A New Home” and it is an illustration of a wormhole looking out into the solar system. Kurtis Edwards intentions were to bring up the effects that global warming is having on the universe. My interpretation of this is that humans are getting pulled into this new solar system that we see as something normal because we live it everyday, but it is actually the old solar system deteriorating from global warming and this image portrays someone seeing their old solar system from inside the new solar system of a wormhole that they and the rest of the world are getting pulled into. I really like his use of simplicity and bright colors mushed together to portray the bright colors of the world deteriorating and getting mashed together. Kurtis Edwards uses Escape Motions to illustrate the overall design and uses Adobe Photoshop to edit the filters and effects.
